POPcon Internet Connection / Dial-up

Direct Connection

Select Direct Connection when your server has permanent internet access through a router, gateway, or another computer sharing its connection. In this mode, POPcon assumes the network is always available and initiates mail retrieval according to the configured schedule without establishing or tearing down a connection.

Dial-Up Connection

Select Dial-Up Connection when POPcon must establish an internet connection before retrieving mail. Configure the following fields for the dial-up entry:

• Username — the account name required by your ISP or dial-up provider.
• Password — the corresponding password for authentication.

POPcon will automatically dial the configured connection at the start of each mail retrieval cycle and disconnect when the cycle completes.

Do Not Disconnect

When the “Do not disconnect” option is enabled, POPcon will not hang up the dial-up connection after completing a mail retrieval cycle. This is useful when other applications share the same dial-up connection and you do not want POPcon to interrupt them.

Trigger Mail When Dial-Up Connection Active

Enable “Trigger mail when dial-up connection active” to have POPcon automatically start a mail retrieval cycle whenever it detects that a dial-up connection has been established — regardless of the current schedule. This ensures mail is downloaded promptly each time the connection becomes available.

Proxy Server Configuration

If your network routes outbound traffic through a proxy server, POPcon can be configured to use it. Specify the proxy server address and port so that POP3 and IMAP connections are routed correctly. Consult your network administrator for the appropriate proxy settings.
